Gov. Culver and Iowa for Health Care Call for Health Care Plans

Des Moines – Today Iowa for Health Care re-launches its campaign, joining with Iowa Gov. Chet Culver on the west steps of the State Capitol to call on all presidential candidates to present their health care plans by Aug. 1, 2007.  Gov. Culver has recently led the charge to make the 2007 session of the Iowa General Assembly the most successful health care assembly in history.

Together with Iowa for Health Care, Gov. Culver throws down the gauntlet to presidential candidates and pledges that he will only vote for a presidential candidate who has a plan that leads to quality, affordable health care for all. This plan must include: A choice of doctors and plans, preventative care, controlled costs, and fair, shared financing involving employers, individuals and government.

“As a veteran, registered nurse, and single mother I know what it’s like to struggle both professionally and personally with health care. And I am proud of the 12 years I’ve served those people with the truly greatest need at Broadlawns Medical Center. Today, Iowa for Health Care calls on all presidential candidates to present their plans by Aug. 1st,” says Broadlawns Nurse Marcia Beck.

“On the heels of an historic healthcare legislative session, Iowa for Health Care is proud to have the greatest health care Governor in history stand with us in demanding that presidential candidates present their plans for comprehensive health care reform to the nation by August 1.” Stated Sarah Swisher, State Director of Iowa for Health Care.
